- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2019Beautiful hardcover edition with bright high quality pages and a lot of cover/extra art at the back.
Picked this up after being 60+ issues into his Batman run. Let me tell you, this is a story that does not disappoint. I knew nothing about Vision nor did a care about him prior to this, but TK's writing style is simply amazing. He takes what should be a superhero "Leave it to beaver" story and makes it transcend any expectations I could have had. You are told from the start how the story will end, but the journey to get to that point was amazing. MUST BUY!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2018I... wow. I actually don’t even have words.
I read this in one sitting and then stepped back feeling so intrigued and desparate for more that I wanted to start reading it over again from the beginning. So I did exactly that. And now I am here.
This storyline was interesting and unexpectedly dark from the get go. Every page was interesting and strangely thought-provoking, the interactions bringing curious thouhts to mind regarding Vision and his synthetic family. As a big fan of Vision both in the comics and the movies I was heartbroken to see him struggle so much with his new family yet I still loved every minute of it. Viv and Vin were especially intriguing to me and Virginia just... ah! I don’t want to spoil anything.
Needless to say I consider this a must read and am planning to sit down and read it again very soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2018Growing up, my mother worked at comic shops. My early memories of comics are traced back to having every issue of Batman Adventures fresh as they came out. That was early 90s... Cut to 2011, and I decided to pick up the first volume of Saga. Won't touch on that, but it reignited my interest in comics. I would grab some stuff here and there, but I didn't follow anything specifically. As I started reading Tom King's run on Batman, and being reminded how much acclaim his Vision work was, I picked it up... What followed was an amazing look into the normal life of a normal family... Who aren't normal. Who run into some issues that are bigger than they can handle. Things that make them realize they are not human. It is an intimate look into a dull life in the suburbs. It is a fantastic run and is a phenomenal jumping-point for any adults who aren't into comics.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2018I never really paid much attention to Vision as a character until I saw the Age of Ultron. Paul Bettany's performance as Vision was great, and so when marvel had a $1 sale for the Eisner award winning graphic novel I picked it up.
The pace of the book is great, with plenty of foreshadowing, and reveals galore. I enjoyed the Vision's attempt to construct a fully synthesized family, and how well integrated his backstory was (including his former relationship with the Scarlet Witch). The book attempts to juxtapose the Vision's role as white house adviser and superhero with his attempt to lead a normal life with his family.
There are a few false notes, the worst of which is the book's attempt to explain P vs NP. If you don't want your kids to grow up with an incorrect understanding of what an NP problem is, keep this book out of their hands! On the other hand, the Marvel universe has always treated Physics, Chemistry, and the various hard sciences as being optional rules, so maybe it was time for Computer Science to get its turn at getting bent.
As a superhero book, it's superior: the characterization is great, and the plot has many elements of classic tragedy: one bad decision leads to another, over and over until things fall apart. Recommended. Just try not to wince too hard when the discussion of CS theory comes up.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2018I read comics and I enjoy recommending comics to my friends that I think they will enjoy. Often my friends aren't as well versed in comics as me, and let's be honest, a lot of Marvel, DC, and even Image comics can be overwhelming to try to get into if you don't know backstories and histories. So finding the perfect graphic novel or TPB (trade paper back - a collection of single issues that is usually a cohesive story) can be difficult.
But this comic, right here, by Tom King is nothing short of genius. The way I like to describe it to people unfamiliar with comics is simply - art. This is good art. This is what the medium of comic books, when done right, can look like.
If you are on the fence about buying it, this is what I have told multiple friends before buying it for them as gifts to see if they would like it: "A harrowing and deeply probing look into the family life of Avenger’s favorite android. In a quest to be more human, the Vision makes himself a family and tries to live a wholesome suburban life. But things aren’t what they seem after initial conflict enters into his quiet life. Foreboding, tense, and philosophical, this 12 issue run tugs at the heart strings while simultaneously making you reel back in horror. Beautifully drawn and colored, and has some of the best usage of narration in modern day comics."
If that sounds good to you, please do yourself a favor and take a chance on it. I haven't heard one complaint against it yet from those who I have given it to.

t the Avenger with the synthetic heart. I was dying of anticipation to find out what happens next. I've only read about half of Tom King's Batman run but, this book made me want to read his other series.

5.0 out of 5 stars serie di fumetti stupenda

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful edition of a great story
This is the award winning edition of the award winning story and it shows. The Vision story itself is part of Tom King's unofficial duology consisting of Mister Miracle and Vision. These are stories of extraordinary people doing ordinary things like worrying about kids, mortgages and home renovations.
Vision in particular came with a lot of expectations and the amazing thing is that it fulfills them all. You are touched by a story that tells of humanity and family when its major characters are not human at all - in the usual sense of the word. It shows us that ties of family may not involve feelings as such; but definitely involve sacrifice and forgiveness.
This edition in particular is something Marvel has put a lot of thought into (and is quickly becoming hard to get!). There are a lot of extras - about half of the 488 pages are filled with letters, the author's writings and panel developments. The cover looks like an old family album and the dust cover has the vision family tree on a sleek black background. Marvel gave a grand send off to Tom King before he moved to DC!

5.0 out of 5 stars Obra-prima moderna
