- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2021Was not expecting so much visceral imagery in a Marvel released comic. But it was gorgeous, and exciting and definitely showing off Cho's strengths. As an alternate storyline to the original Shanna, it works well. A simple story but still working to highlight the power and fragility of its human cast while showing a fun view of dinosaurs during a drought. Would recommend for fans of powerful Amazonian women, dinosaurs or war time soldier interactions.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2024This is my first Marvel comic I purchased and read and it was worth it, but it is flawed (in my opinion). It was really good, especially this is Cho's debut at Marvel. I did enjoyed it. Shanna is cool and sexy as hell, but I do found her Nazi origin dull and her arch underwhelming. But I can look past that and enjoy some Jungle Girl vs. Dinosaur action. Fun comic. 3.5/5
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2011This graphic novel written and illustated by Frank Cho is a masterpiece. It is one of the best done in one colletion of storys I have ever read. He ends the tale perfectly. The fantastic art by Mr. Cho is breath taking along with his writting skills. The only bumber is even though it has an end and you have fallen in love with the characters you want more. So I guess I'll just have to read more of this artists talented work.

Comic artist and writer Frank Cho introduces us to Shanna, a genetically engineered warrior woman trying to adjust to a fierce world of dinosaurs and men trapped there. Brutal, savage, and awesome. Recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2007You can see the imagination of Frank as he sets out to show the world that Women have there own way of doing things and can still show emotion. Lots of awesome drawings of Shanna as well as the inhabitants of the island the people find themselves on. Dinosaurs galore! Frank has a knack for doing great drawings of more than just the female form.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2015Sexy and wild story and gorgeous woman from the pen and mind of Frank Cho!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2009Terrific art from Frank Cho. Granted, he can only draw one woman, but he draws her very well. Lots of dinos and bikini warrior woman action. A fun read!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Frank Cho or 'jungle' girls in general then this ...
If you like Frank Cho or 'jungle' girls in general then this book is pretty much a must-have. The price is the only niggle considering that the book isn't all that thick but this is probably down to the fact that it looks like (and I may be wrong) that this wasn't released over here in the UK, at least not as widely as the more mainstream Marvel graphic novels and trade paperbacks.
But who wants mainstream characters anyway? Frank Cho draws some breathtaking female forms, almost to the degree of being outrageous yet - despite the idealistic depiction of his women - his art doesn't really stray into the realms of exaggeration or non-realistic. This is shown very clearly in this book where I absolutely did not get bored of Shanna.
I'm pretty sure that prospective buyers will know if this book is their 'thing' just by the cover so trying to recommend it seems a bit pointless. However, I will say that there is a decent story and some good characterisation with only a handful of tame pervy moments so if you think that this might be a product sold on sex alone then think again. Worth it for the art alone in my opinion but it would be nice if it was a little cheaper.
