About the author

Kieron Gillen is a British writer, journalist and critic best known for his work in comics and his previous work in entertainment journalism.
Gillen's first graphic novel, PHONOGRAM (with artist/co-creator Jamie McKelvie), was published through IMAGE COMICS in 2006. Since then he's found work writing for MARVEL, AVATAR, BOOM, TOKYOPOP, DYNAMITE and more that don't spring to mind right now.
At Marvel, he's written runs on books including THE UNCANNY X-MEN, THOR, YOUNG AVENGERS, IRON MAN, JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY, STAR WARS, DOCTOR APHRA and DARTH VADER.
Books he's created included UBER, MERCURY HEAT and THREE, but is best known for the ongoing gods-as-popstar series with long time collaborators Jamie McKelvie and Matt Wilson THE WICKED + THE DIVINE launched to both huge critical and commercial success in 2014. It will conclude in 2019.
He is working on other things.
In his previous life as a critic, his work has appeared in WIRED, THE GUARDIAN, PLAYSTATION MAGAZINE UK, PC GAMER, EDGE and far too many others to count. In 2007 he was one of the founders of ROCKPAPERSHOTGUN.COM, what is now the world's premier PC-centric games blog.
He once played records for DMC to rap over.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2017This chapter was great, Vader now has his resources.
Can't wait to read the next part. I recommend this graphic novel for all star wars fans
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2015This series of comics I have been finding highly enjoyable. The plot is interesting and the art work is some of the best I've seen so far in any star wars comic
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2015There is surprisingly not much of Vader in this issue. For the most part the focus of the issue is on Aphra as she leads a band of Bounty Hunters to still a fortune of confiscated drug money from an Imperial ship, money that Vader had confiscated in the last issue.
Vader appears in the second half, revealing he was the mastermind of the heist (obviously). He then goes back to the fleet where he and his new rivals for the position of the Emperor's right hand are given assignments by Tagge. Vader's is to investigate the very theft he just orchestrated. To complicate matters he is assigned a new observer, one vetted by the Emperor himself.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2015I like the overall comic, but this particular issue needed more of Vader. I also don't buy into the droid archaeologist character. Worth getting if you are reading the series. Spoiler review in the the link.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2015It would be nice to have a Donald Trump-esque executive in the new Star Wars franchise because he "wouldn't have time to be politically correct" and the tween archaeologist wouldn't exist. If you're going to introduce more female characters at least make them overtly intelligent, sophisticated, and strong like Leia or Mon Mothra; characters who fit more into the war ravaged galaxy of Star Wars. -Think female Russian snipers during the battle of Stalingrad, less New Girl.
