In the future, augmented reality goes to a new level called veils. The world appears any way you want it, but one detective likes to remain clear eyed. He is saddened when he finds that his former wife has died, but was it suicide or murder? So the story begins. Very well written and illustrated excellently in a noir style you will like. We’ll worth the read!

Clearly , a good start to what looks to be a great combination of story and art.
I'm hooked. Now where is vol. 2.

Story really sucked me in somehow and the cliffhanger at the end was the icing on the cake. I'm a sucker for this kind of dystopian cyberpunk film noir stuff. If you are too, get in on the ground floor here.

This will be a classic. I’m so glad I discovered Scott Snyder. I’m speechless. I also love the art, reminiscent of Blade Runner.

Francis Manapul is the reason to read this. Vibrant, layered art that’s still so clean and easy to follow in terms of paneling. Snyder’s writing is competent in a sea of mediocrity that is the current comics landscape. This is a recurring issue with his work: the ideas are great, but the stories themselves— and especially the characters— are, as the kids say, “mid.” I never feel anything when I read his work.

Everything you could want from a story. A bit cliche, but what isn't these days. Definitely looking forward to reading more in this series.

Since finishing the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, I’ve been looking for something else to get my fix. This story has a similar “neon noir” vibe (yes, neon like a neon sign). The concept of “veils” is pretty interesting too. I look forward to seeing what happens next.

It may not be in black and white, but this sci-fi noir comic has all the hallmarks of a bittersweet murder mystery.

I look forward to reading the subsequent issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Du cyberpunk badass et noir…
Reviewed in France on December 21, 2024

5.0 out of 5 stars Scott Snyder is a God amongst men.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 16, 2021
His writing style might not be everyone's cup of tea. His tone is often quite dour, his subject matter and subtext usually relate to internal struggles, covering themes of self-doubt, faith, personal identity, etc. His stories often start off vague and the narrative unfolds page by page until it comes full circle and the plot becomes clear. He writes character driven stories that build complex but believable worlds, rather than fast paced actioners. This book is no exception, it's free on Kindle unlimited. Get it, read it and, even if Scott's story doesn't resonate with you, the artwork is gorgeous!

Still have yet to read it but from first look at the art work and colours...just amazing. It's like someone plucked out from my mind exactly what I wanted to see, but I just have not seen, or imagined it exactly like this, yet! It's cyberpunk/film noir eye candy SUPER HAPPY right meow :D
