- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2019Carol is a complex character. She cares deeply about doing the right thing, but doesn't always get it right. No matter what some online idiots say ,she isn't a D list character who doesn't sell. She is an a-lister all the way

- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2019Being new to Captain/Ms. Marvel, this was the first graphic novel I read about her, and I enjoyed it a lot. The civil war books, as well as the final arc in this novel, were both very entertaining reads. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2019So, let's start this off by saying that the first comic I'd ever read that had Carol Danvers as a featured character was Civil War II. That's not exactly the best comic to get a first impression out of considering she's extremely out of character in it. But because of the Captain Marvel movie coming out and the fact that I wanted to like Carol and give her a chance, I bought this comic of her Ms. Marvel years to go back to some of her roots before she became Captain Marvel, to see her road to getting here. And man, do I love Carol Danvers now! She's funny, she's badass, she's powerful... she is nothing like how they portrayed her to be in Civil War II. I didn't like the whole pro-registration thing, though. I've always been anti-registration in Civil War. Everything behind the superhero registration creeps me out and reminds me of concentration camps and internment camps seeing as they're forcing superhumans to put their names on a list or be locked away forever. So, I didn't like that Carol sided with pro-registration, but at least we got to see into her head and learn that the reason she was pro-registration was that she thought it would be safer for people, so she was just trying to do what was right, and she didn't sell Captain America out to Tony when he came to talk to her. We also got to see Carol learn about the flaws in the registration system, though, and want to help Arachne reunite with her daugher. I loved the interactions between Carol and other characters like Spider-Woman, Captain America, Dr. Strange, Wonder Man, and Iron Man. I also loved seeing Carol get her new cat, Chewie, especially since I know that that cat turns out to be a Flerken. Carol's humor was great and the stories were awesome. The book is a little long, but I still loved reading it. This was a great story about Carol trying to be the greatest superhero she could be, showing her path to ultimately becoming the next Captain Marvel. Four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Ms.Marvel for the 21st century.
The Ms.Marvel years Vol.1, written by Brian Reed, tells the story of Carol Danvers before she became the current captain marvel. After I finished reading Volume.1, I think the writer definitely did his homework on Ms.Marvel. Because some of the issue's collected together in this book made me feel like this started off where the original comic finished back in the early 1980's .
Brian Reed did a great job with the writing, presenting Carol Danvers as a character with quite a few different sides to her. She is a super hero but, one who doesn't always get it right when she is busy being a super hero. As well as trying to get her own life back on the right track.
Brian Reed also brings back some of the villains that Ms.Marvel fought in her original comics, such as The Doomsday man and, M.O.D.O.K. Also there is an appearance by Rogue from the the X-MEN.
The artwork in the main panels looks impressive and artist Greg Horn did an impressive job of the artwork on the later issue's collected in this book. He made Ms.Marvel look stunningly beautiful.
Overall I enjoyed reading this first volume out of 3. Next up, Volume 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars ¡Muy bueno!
En la etapa de Ms. marvel, Carol Danvers si se arriesgaba y se notaba sus ganas de ser heroína aunque la golpeaban, siempre daba un golpe 💪

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente!
