- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2016I'll Start off by saying I normally hate comic book crossovers of any kind, usually because I only like one of the characters in them and every time they fight it's a draw and they team up to fight one of either or both heroes villians.
If you're familiar with crossovers the story structure should be an obvious given, but incase you arent heres how it goes
Bad guys do something illegal.
Good guys show up almost immediately.
Bad guys get away.
Both forces of good meet & get into misunderstanding then fight a while, then team up sometime after to punish evil.
Bad guys combine forces
Bad guy almost succeeds but is thwarted by good
Then heroes part ways as friends and takes their villains back to where ever they go normally in each franchise.
Some Super Minor Spoilers Ahead!
The good
The Turtles and Splinter do what most other heroes can't, make Batman lighten up some and have a little fun before the end of the series
Damian Wayne (Robin) isn't such a jerk in this when he shows up.
It's just a fun story and a bit silly
The artwork is fantastic, I've never seen the Turtles look better in comic book form before.
The colors are quite beautiful as well
The story leaves open a possibility for another crossover between these characters again and im totally on board with another and hopefully the next would take place with Batman in New York.
There is quite a lengthy display of awesome covers and variant covers after the story ends with a few pages of Freddie E Wiiliams II sketches too.
The Bad
Batman looks a little goofy at times in a few panels because he is so muscular.
It was only 6 issues I wish it was longer
Raphael has his normal going off on his own after having an argument with the characters on his side.
The good far out weighs the bad, the bad parts don't really have any kind of effect on the book they might even make you chuckle when you come across them.
If you like both Batman & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics there is no reason not to pick this up. I Usually read an issue a day when I buy comics in this format to make it last longer, but I went through it all in one sitting and had a blast reading it, even though it follows the stereotypical crossover structure but this time I liked everyone involved in it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2016Alright, maybe the Dynamic Duo is more melodic but this crossover works.
I'll happily admit to being biased coming into this graphic novel as I love both Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - but, truthfully this was a ton of fun. Nothing groundbreaking. No new story telling tricks. Just a healthy dose of turtle fueled bat entertainment. And Batman eats pizza. Also, mutagen finds a way into Arkham and works over some iconic DC villains.
The art direction is great. The illustration and inking is phenomenal. The pacing of the story is quick with little to no down time.
If I had to complain about anything it would be that for a few pages Raphael falls into his brooding-you-can't-possibly-understand-my-hardships attitude but that wraps up in short order.
If you like Batman and TMNT and you don't mind your comics books to be a bit silly then you're in for a treat.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2017One of my favourite comic stories of all time! I actually purchased these single issues when they originally came out and took my time pouring over the beautiful pages. I just had to buy the hardcover so I could put it on my shelf with my other books and trades.. my only real problem with this trade is that they neglect the title pages between each issue but I guess that's not necessary.
Freddie Williams II, after this series, has become my favourite Turtles artist (he is currently doing the covers for TMNT Universe) and Tynion is one of my favourite Batman writers (although as big of a fan as he is of the character, I wish he would have used TIm instead of Damian in the Robin role here--especially since it was out of continuity). All of the Turtles are showcased and the ninja aspect fits in so well with the Gotham setting. There were also lighthearted moments like Michaelangelo and Donatello's reaction to the Batcave... I also like how they incorporated other characters like most of Batman's rogues and even Splinter and Casey Jones from TMNT. Even if you don't like the story it's worth it to see Shredder and Batman face off and Batman sparring with Leonardo.
Great book. I SO hope they do a sequel--they definitely had the sales numbers..! Pick this up now!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2024One of the many crossovers you didn't know you wanted until now. The Turtles come to Gotham to stop the team-up of the Foot Clan and the League of Assassins. The art is superb and the action is your typical comic book fare.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2022I can't believe this actually exists and yet, it does. I won't spoil anything, even though a cartoon adaptation of this has been made, but I will spoil this old saying: "The source material is better" (or something along those lines).
Batman/TMNT is a fun comic for everyone. Even adults. It has the comedy and the dark from both worlds, managing to find a balance between them that never compromises the other. Yes, the idea itself is very fanfiction-y. But its fanfiction done right. You get fights that you probably never thought about but ultimately recognize as a dream match made in heaven. Including the team-ups of both heroes and villains.
But the second biggest positive (outside of the crazy idea that someone clearly dreamt up while on something) would have to be the crazy ideas that they take advantage of. I won't give it away but there's a sequence at Arkham Asylum that is pure genius and is worth getting the comic for alone.
The artwork is also very good, including the writing. Everyone is within character and the story is so crazy that it surprisingly makes sense within the rules of each other universe.
And that's about all I can say without giving anything away. I highly recommend buying this comic. Yes, there are sequels and I do recommend them, but this is the best one they have done. If you're a fan of either IP, or both, then you should buy this comic. It's worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend - Great Crossover
I bought this not exactly knowing what to expect - I have heard that this was a good read but thought it might be a pretty campy/silly crossover. The two franchises actually fit together unexpectedly well, I enjoyed the combination of tones and characters very much. The plot is very strong, the characters act and feel as they should, and the art is amazing. I knew I would enjoy it just for the nostalgia but its actually just a great comic on top of that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good
It was actually really good. The story was good (although there were no surprises there) and the art perfect.
One of those crossovers worthwhile reading.
